MUL Multi Jaw Chuck

Suitable for thin-walled work-piece processing!

For chucking thin-walled cylindrical work-pieces with uneven surface!

Thin-walled cylindrical workpieces are difficult to chuck because they are elastically deformed by slight force [clamping force, cutting resistance, centrifugal force], which causes restrictions on cutting conditions, requires multiple processes for high-precision finishing, deteriorates finished surfaces due to chattering, and reduces tool life.
The multi-jaw chuck developed by our company has a float mechanism and multiple jaws that softly and powerfully clamp the outer surface of thin-walled cylindrical workpieces evenly.
Even thin-walled materials with uneven surfaces can be finished to a high roundness under normal machining conditions, and we have abundant experience in high-precision machining that is difficult to achieve with other chucks.

Thin-walled work-piece is difficult work-piece!

Thin-walled cylindrical workpieces are easily deformed or deflected even by a small gripping, cutting, or centrifugal force, so they require difficult cutting conditions and many finishing processes.

The Multi Jaw design minimizes distortion!

The multi-jaw chuck uses a multi-jaw pin (standard 24 points) with a float mechanism to clamp the outer circumference of the workpiece softly, evenly, and powerfully, so that even thin-walled workpieces are not distorted by the chuck.

Even distribution of clamping force by a floating mechanism!

The float mechanism of the multi-jaw chuck does not affect the pushing force of individual jaw pins at all, even on uneven materials.
Furthermore, the multi-jaw chuck, which holds the entire circumference of the workpiece at equal intervals, increases the rigidity of the outer circumference of the workpiece, eliminating deformation and chatter due to cutting resistance and enabling finishing accuracy in the micron range to be expected.
As a result, thin-walled cylindrical workpieces made from casting, forging, and press molding materials are finished to high precision in the first process (roughing and finishing), resulting in improved machining conditions, process reduction, and longer tool life.
